The Center for Fire Safety Engineering (CFSE) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura was established in 2022 as Sri Lanka’s pioneering fire testing and research facility. Founded to meet the national need for scientifically grounded and evidence-based fire engineering solutions, The Center integrates advanced testing facilities, technical expertise, and modern research capabilities to enhance fire resilience across the built environments. CFSE operates with a proud mission “To conduct advanced fire safety engineering research in Sri Lanka, and to disseminate knowledge and guidance in fire safety of buildings”.
The state-of-the-art laboratory facility of the CFSE is now situated at the Faculty of Engineering premises of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura at Maththegoda, Sri Lanka.
